Lye is used to start the chemical reaction between water and oil, soap cannot be made without lye. However, the end product does NOT contain any lye!!
The soap is naturally high in:
- oleic fatty acid (omega 9)-65%; An anti-inflammatory substance that stimulates wound healing, oleic acid can also help calm, balance and help repair skin, even those with damaged conditions like eczema, rosacea and psoriasis. Oleic acid also contains compounds that reinforce the integrity of cell membranes. Oleic acid is used in skincare as a cleansing agent and skin texture enhances.
- linoleic acid -vitamin F – 15%; provides moisture and “plumpness” without weighing down the skin; it fortifies and protects the skin’s barrier, thereby helping to fend off UV rays and air pollutants such as smoke, both of which cause free radical activity that can result in wrinkles and signs of aging. It also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and has been shown to stimulate epidermal regeneration. Linoleic acid acts as an anti-inflammatory agent that reduces acne and retains moisture. It keeps sebum flowing preventing comedones, it does unclog pores. With a linoleic deficiency, sebum becomes dry and is more likely to block follicles. Vit F strengthens the skin barrier and even soothes dermatitis and eczema.
- Palmitic acid -10%: Its primary benefit for skin health is locking in moisture by forming a protective layer on the skin and softening the skin
- There is also a good concentration of myristic acid (lubricant, foamer and cleanser), stearic acid( moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties, protects the skin from sun damage like dark spots), linolenic acid (modulating inflammation in our body, effective as a skin restorative, an antioxidant, and as a skin-soothing agent)
